What's the difference between PE pipe and PPR pipe, which material is better?

1. PPR pipe are Heat resistance: The molecular characteristics of HDPE water supply pipe determine that it is mainly used in cold water transportation. PPR pipe is generally used for domestic hot water (water temperature at 60-70 degree ), and PE pipe is not suitable.

PE pipe are Freeze resistance: The low temperature embrittlement point of PE pipe is -70 degree , and it can be used safely in the temperature range of -40-40 degree . Compared with other pipes, it has obvious advantages when used in outdoor cold water pipes.

2. HDPE water supply pipes can be made with large diameters and very complete specifications. In particular, the large-diameter specification is the most mainstream tap water delivery pipe at present, while the commonly used PPR water supply pipe is generally below 110mm, mainly used for cold and hot water pipes in buildings.

3. PE pipe has strong wear resistance and excellent hydraulic performance, and no outer layer protection is required for buried pipelines. Excellent flexibility makes it suitable for earthquakes and soil subsidence areas in mining areas, and can also be laid on the bottom of rivers by submersion. The ability of PPR tube in this respect is weak.

4. In the case of outdoor surface installation, the black PE pipe can greatly reduce the damage of ultraviolet rays to the pipeline due to the standard requirements of HDPE water supply pipe, and can be installed without protection. PPR water supply pipes are generally light-colored pipes, and it is necessary to install protective measures against light to prevent UV damage.

5. In the case of indoor concealed installation, due to the different common colors of PE pipes and PPR pipes, from the perspective of visual aesthetics, PPR pipes should be used for indoor pipes.

Therefore, there is no PE pipe or PPR pipe which is better. In different environments and specific conditions, different pipes need to be selected. In simple terms, PE pipes are used for large-diameter and outdoor pipes; PPR pipes should be used for hot water and indoor home improvement.
